  • THE NAZIS, PHOTOGRAPHY AND THE RABBI

Leica cameras were used to take photos that everyone knows; for many renowned photographers they were and are indispensable tools. Barbara Klemm said the Leica was "like a little jewel", Rene Burri called it "a grandiose shooting tool", Herlinde Koelbl used it to document the "faces of power" in general and Angela Merkel's in particular. The two-part documentary tells the story of the Leica and how it changed photography - and of how Ernst Leitz II helped numerous Jews to escape during National Socialism; a story that was only recently discovered by an American rabbi.
