In many football stadiums around the world, fans sing "You'll Never Walk Alone" before the game; the song seems to have become one with fan culture. But who would have thought that the stadium anthem has its roots in early 20th century Budapest? Actor and self-confessed football fan Joachim Król follows in the footsteps of the song and guides us through the film. He talks to actors, musicians and football fans, including Jürgen Klopp and Campino, conductor Thomas Hengelbrock, actress Mavie Hörbiger and Gerry Marsden, the frontman of the Liverpool band "Gerry and the Pacemakers". The result is a portrait of the 20th century via the song and its history, a grandiose Hungarian-Viennese-German-American-English transnational co-production.
