The Magdalen Islands archipelago lies in the heart of the Gulf of St. Lawrence and belongs to the Canadian province of Quebec. A paradise archipelago and at the same time feared as a notorious obstacle to seafaring. The descendants of shipwrecked sailors still live here today, together with the French-speaking Acadians.
This two-part documentary portrays the lives of the Madelinots, who are at the mercy of the elements and the tides. Between wind and dunes, fire and water, they cultivate a vibrant culture that helps them survive in the middle of the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
